Can anyone tell me how these literary devices contribute to the theme of Alice and Wonderland?

Food is a symbol of growing up. Remember when Alice eats the food to grow bigger. Or when she goes to the wonderland for the first time and they are eating a big meal, this is when she starts her path to maturing. I can't remember much else, look it up on google, not here.
