Does anyone remember the name of that tv program where this man read the comics to you? (1970's)?

I don't remember if it was a seperate program, or it might have been ociated with Captain Kangaroo?? It seems like his name was Bill?? And I think there was some kind of stuffed pet that he had named Zippy. It was sometime in the early to mid 70's.
