How can you call the World Trade Centre "Ground Zero" when the Pentagon was also a target.?

because the World Trade Center towers were an innocent civilian target. The pentagon is a justifiable military target. as for why other countries call it 9-11 when European calendars go the other way...why did you spell it centre when you know the American spelling is center?
