How comes I need internet to play BD's on my PS3?

its probally a new blu-ray movie or atleast newer than your last PS3 update. thats why you need it hooked up for the updates. the latest update so far is like 3.02(I think) but yeah they update to fix stuff and to make it capable to play newer games MW2 requires update 3.01 and i just updated from the disc it since at the time internet was down. With out internet I sort of looking at it as having half a PS3. ALOT of blu-ray and PS3 games dont have the updates on the disc so its important to have it hooked up just for updates. A message will pop up saying the latest update has been found and then you select yes. you need DSL or CABLE. Dial-up doesn't work anymore if you have it.
